Traditionally, Virgil is seen as the spokesman for the ideals of public virtue, while Ovid speaks to the importance of personal desire. In Ovid’s writings, transformation, illusion, irony and pleasure not only overtake us but are in fact the forces which give us pleasure and provide meanings to our lives.In Virgil’s epic, pleasure, irony, illusion and transformation are forces to be avoided or conquered. If for Virgil life is a road we must pave and then travel, for Ovid it is a river we must swim in, navigate, dive into, and at times drown in. Focus on one aspect of modern everyday life in which the themes of these two poets offer divergent guidance, and explain which of the two is wiser. Another approach might be to see Virgil as the poet of exiles, immigrants, and survivors- and Ovid as the poet of natives who want to enjoy the unthreatened world into which they were born.

Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.
